If you would like an album in our Gallery please read the following before sending us your work…

1. We want your album to look as nice as possible. An album with only a few pieces in it might not stand out as swimmingly as a full one. So, send us as much as you like. We give preference to artists who send us more than five images (it shows dedication). You can even have multiple albums under your name! Just let us know if you have any organizational preferences.

2. Include any personal information that you want posted. Bios, website links, emails, phone numbers & artist statements are all welcome as we will include any info that you desire. There are no space limitations. Make your Bios literate and detailed. Include information that is relevant to you as an artist. The chances of someone finding you on the web are greatly improved by detailed, richly descriptive writing.

3. Check back every now and then to see what’s new. People can leave comments on your page and we also have a News forum as well as Art Talk. In other words… you have a lot of opportunities to promote your work on Phauxshow.

4. Name your files after your work. Even if you call it ‘Painting1.jpg’ it still sounds better than ‘123322j1hndkdh.jpg’! We don’t have time to rename all of your images for you! Our preferred format would look something like… ‘The Master and Margarita.jpg’

5. Please reply back to our email! In your first email to us you should include some of the images you want us to consider (multiple emails are fine). You can also always add more later. If you want us to take the files directly from your website, please say so – otherwise we wont even think about it. If you send us an email with no title and nothing in the body other than a link to your MySpace or website we will flag you as spam. Most of all, be communicative, be polite and if we email you please respond back to us.

6. Link to us! If you include your website for us to link to we expect to be linked back to (we can tell if you’re not returning the love!!!). If you want to create a graphic to use as a link to us, please do!

7. Promote yourself! Don’t be shy. Email your friends and tell them they can see your work on Phauxshow. Also, feel free to bookmark (Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon etc.) any of the images on the site.

8. Unlike other sites, we don’t accept everything that is sent to us. In our experience, though, the work that we don’t accept tends to be very poorly represented (think photographs of paintings on the floor in your bedroom) or vulgar (do we really have to explain ourselves here?!). Before you send us an image ask yourself if the quality, centering, presentation etc. would be worthy of a printed magazine. You may be a great artist but if your art is poorly photographed your genius will be lost.

9. While we have some of the features of a Social Network we are in fact an online art gallery. There are plenty of sites that allow you to indiscriminately upload anything you like. At Phauxshow we are control freaks! We have a clear idea of how we want the site to look and feel and we are unwilling to forgo our values for monetary gain. Therefore, you have to send us anything you want posted. Don’t worry though, we are incredibly friendly people and love our artists!

10. We are currently not accepting photography of 3D art, photography of installation or performance art or anything pornographic in nature. Excepting the latter, if you have captured your work in a way you think we might be interested in, it won’t hurt to try.

11. Be cool! We are running Phauxshow in our spare time. While we are dedicated to the site and our artists, sometimes getting your album up or responding to you may take a few days. As a general rule, if you haven’t heard back from us in a week you can send us a friendly reminder. We try to email everyone we accept and almost everyone we don’t accept.

12. Finally, have a look around our site. It won’t take long for you to get an idea of what we are about.

13. One more thing! If you want to be in the slideshow at least one of your images has to be 500 pixels wide or larger.
