PHAUXSHOW

I was Born in the south of France on july 25th 1983. Like most kids I Started drawing at an early age sketching people on paper, scribbling on walls. I found in this more than a colorfull pastime. It was a way for me to remenber everything better. A way to capture places and faces.

I started learning about art in all its form throughout books, going toexhibits, watching documentaries, travelling, and listening to varioussort of music. It was in Prague, while on an internship for costumedesgin, that i really started painting.

The place I was staying at belonged to a painter and i jsut picked up on it. Being in that environment really inspired me to start playing with textures, colors and shapes.

After travelling in Europe for a couple of years, i returned to California and had my fist show at a Santa Monica Gallery in 2004. Since then, I’ve kept working on my artwork, trying out different techniques and learning about many fascinating artists.

My style has grown more abstract in the past year, I recently started working on a series of paitning focusing on World Maps. Using Old Maps, Satellites rendering of different countries , I try and play with the outlines of earth and water.

The work is more focused on the texture this time than the evident outcome like in my old paintings who were mostly depicting faces. I work withacrylics mostly as a base and then depending on the piece add up certain materials like sand or moss in order to render the wanted texture .

It is so far a work in progress. The series is still in its early stage.
