I am from Bangalore, the garden city of India. I was born here in the month of February, 1969. Being the oldest of three brothers, I found myself involved in many extracurricular activities and my artistic ability seemed to evolve as years went by. The art class being my favourite at school, I used to excel in freehand sketching and painting.

In my early teens, with the guidance of my art teacher I went on to acquiring some creative techniques and skills but couldn’t agree more on what we call the inborn talent. Painting has always been one of my deepest passions. I feel immensely fortunate to express my thoughts on an empty canvas, giving color, form and bringing to life beautiful pieces of art.

My works have been showcased in some exhibitions in Bangalore. I have sold most of my paintings to many art lovers. Most of my works are portraits, landscapes and seascapes. Throughout these years I have concentrated more towards realism than abstract. I have also reproduced many artworks by Joshua Reynolds, El Greco, Homer, Picasso and many more.

It is now that I have developed a keen interest in Abstract art and am eager to start painting a series on the same.

Academically, I graduated from Bangalore University with a degree in Commerce and went on to pursue a course in Interior Design to become a self employed Interior designer. With 15 years of experience and designing furniture and layouts for over 100 residences in Bangalore I have moved on to settle down in a new country. I moved with my family to this beautiful city of Vancouver in 2007.

Not merely satisfied with my academic accomplishments I went on to upgrade myself with a diploma in Interior design from La Salle College of Design, Vancouver in 2008. Currently I am involved in becoming a lighting specialist while working at a lighting store as design specialist.

Sarah Elizabeth Hicks grew up in Kent, England along the southeast coast. She began painting at a very early age. After winning the sixth form art prize and the Sheila Marshall award from the Thanet decorative and fine arts society, she soon realized her love and talent for the arts.

In 2000 she took a foundation course in art and design at KIAD (Kent institute of Art and Design) with a fraction of the class being in Barcelona, Spain. She then went on to study at Arizona State University where she received a bachelor of fine arts degree in printmaking. After taking a number of different classes she discovered her true love was for painting. She has had a number of solo shows in Phoenix Arizona. Sarah Elizabeth is now a full time freelance artist working on various commission projects and constantly experimenting with her style and subject matter.

Colour, line and mark making are the subject of Sarah Elizabeth’s abstract paintings. The use of simple geometric shapes express the impressions and feelings of the scene or point she is trying to portray. Her subjects are chosen by what captures her imagination from daily scenes and still life’s, to capturing a moment or memory of a place she has been. The choice of colours and the effects that marks and textures have on the canvas catch the viewer’s eye, drawing them in. The paint creates gorgeous, thick, vibrant colours allowing her to layer, scratch, scrap and drip the acrylics. The gestural expressive brush strokes also represent this, enhancing the structure and mood of the painting. The mark making and the gestural line emphasize the energy and movement throughout the scenes of the paintings, capturing emotions and thoughts and holding them frozen in time.

My work can be found on my website

Quebecois painter, born in Montreal. Artist at heart since childhood, I leave my career as a language teacher in 1987 to devote my time to my passion, art.

Throughout the years, having experimented many different artistic avenues, I am , above all, seduced by painting. This experience opens the doors to my inner world and unleashes my creativity and pushes it towards new horizons, until then, unknown to me. I discover the wonders of acrylic and evolve rapidly towards spontaneous movements filled with vitality and color.

For me, painting is synonymous with transformation. I constantly explore new paths with color, texture and composition. I prefer large size canvases for they allow greater freedom of movement.

Painting becomes my way of expressing the feelings that emerge with the coming of each season. The beauty of nature’s rebirth in spring, the calmness and warmth of summer and the hypnotic range of color in automn landscapes. My passion allows me to capture and immortalize all these wonderful changes.

In 2006 and 2007, I receive from The International Academy of Fine Arts of Quebec three different awards (Prix Palmarès, Prix Platon, 1er Prix Démos) for the quality and constant progress in my work.

In 2008, I accept the invitation to participate in two prestigious exhibitions in England. One held at Quebec House, in London and the other held at Artlands Gallery in Norfolk.

My work is also found in different galleries throughout the province of quebec.

I like to donate some of my earlier work to various fundraising events such as the Montreal Jewish Hospital, Sainte-Justine Hospital for Children, The Shrinner Hospital, The Telethon of Stars, The Montreal School Board and more to come.

List of paintings:

Vers le Centre, acrylic 36 X 48

Moments Intimes, acrylic 30 X 60

D’Hier à Aujourd’hui, acrylic 40 X 60

I am 19 years old and I was born and raised in the Hill District., PA. I grew up around a lot of drugs, and violence but chose not to be apart of that. I always wanted something different in life. My brother Armando Duncan inspired me to draw. We both started drawing around the same time, when we were ten. I always looked up to my brother and still do to this day. My brother lost interest in drawing, and started rapping but I chose not to follow and I thank God for that. I started taking drawing more seriously around the age 14.

I mostly draw, but there are many different types of art that I would like to learn more about, such as sculptures, airbrushing tattooing, painting, and more. In the future I hope to go to school for studio arts or graphic design. I also would like to work for a big business, and do something on the side like tattooing or airbrushing.

Please contact Duncan through his representative, Angela…
